The Hikaru Mizu Japanese Garden will in every senseof the words
a work of art when it is completed. Currently we are in the second
stages of the garden development but is progressing on a daily basis.
The design has been created by a master landscape architect, Toru
Tanaka of Portland Landscape Design, and is a true collaboration
with nature. It will take many years to complete the vision of Toru
Tanaka. However, the garden just celebrated its grand opening and
is now available for rental and viewing.
The Four Rivers Cultural Center has dedicated the garden as a memorial
to those Japanese Americans interned during World War II and to
the many Japanese Americans who fought valiantly during the war
in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters.
Four Rivers Cultural Center is accepting donations toward the completion
of the garden At the present time we have raised over 1/3 of the
total cost. Estimated completion is ongoing. The garden is a work
in progress and will be a living memorial to all who enter and who
have donated to the beauty of the garden.
