Four Rivers Cultural Center

I am Matthew Stringer.  I was born and raised in Nyssa.  I have lived in Manhattan, New York for the last 28 years and just moved back six days before I started this job as Executive Director of FRCC. in August 2011.  My experience so far has been great.  I feel some sense of support from the community, enjoy my staff and my volunteers and am still adjusting to my dramatic life change.  I love the idea behind the work involved and I have every aspiration of increasing the visibility and the activity that occurs here.

Very few towns of this size have a facility of this caliber.  It is a multi-faceted space that offers so many opportunities for community involvement.  Having so many components to work with is one of the most exciting and motivating aspects of the job.  I have a garden, a museum, a gallery, a theater, a gift shop and a conference facility.  Really we can get as creative as our mind will let us with these amenities.  I explain to people that their dollars go further when they spend them at Four Rivers Cultural Center.  When they shop here they are not only buying a service, they are making a contribution to the community. Their dollars are going further than they would buying these services elsewhere, because any money we make beyond what we spend is put back into the community.   Any excess money we have goes to buy talent for the theater, make improvements to the garden, or to bring a new exhibit to the gallery. Our product is the consumer experience, not the conference rooms or museum.  We are now very focused on service and strive to make everyone’s experience here a positive one.  The ultimate objective is to make FRCC a destination, where everyone has a reason to be here.
